Camellia is described as a ballerina pink. [P]
Dahlia is described as a cabernet. [P]

Snapdragon is described as a coral. [P]

"BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Luminous Blush features multi-dimensional, versatile blushes to create a subtle, shimmering flush. Specially designed to flatter all skintones, this collection is inspired by the fan favorite Shimmering Skin Perfector—just the right balance of color and light. Wear them alone for subtle blushed luminosity, or as a blush topper layered on top of your favorite matte blush for an added pop of radiance."
The packaging is the brands signature round compact with a silicone texture and features a mirror. The compact itself feels very slim and durable in the hand—it's identical to their Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed iconhighlighters, just smaller.

These Luminous Blushes iconwere designed to either wear alone for a subtle hint of color and glow, or used as a blush topper to be layered over other blushes to add an extra pop of pigmentation and luminosity to the cheeks.

Camellia is a light-medium, candy pink with hints of yellow, warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was drier and lightly chunky in the pan, but it had no issues smoothing out during application—it was very smooth and blendable on the skin. This shade had nice, semi-opaque pigmentation and didn't emphasize pores or imperfections. Camellia lasted +8.5 hours before fading. (5/5)
* MAC What I Fancy (LE) was lighter, more peach, matte. NARS Blasphemy (LE) was warmer, less pink, more matte. Clinique Pink Pop was brighter, less less opaque, less frosted.

Swatches | BECCA Champagne Collection Eye Palette + Negative Return Experience

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eye Palette (0.30 oz.) retailed for $40 USD ($48 CAD) and has recently been discontinued and pulled from both the Sephora website and stores.

Becca Champagne Collection Eye Palette ― There has been a lot of controversy surrounding this palette since its launch and has since been discontinued. If you are unaware, definitely do some research as it's very enlightening, especially if you love makeup.

Yes, I am a fan of Becca products and yes, I did purchase this palette myself. The Ombré Nude and Ombré Rouge Palettes are certainly worth checking out, meanwhile this one is not. The differences, performance and quality is on opposite sides of the spectrum. I will admit the shadows swatched fairly decent at first, besides being quite chalky and powdery, but once it came to actually using and blending the shadows, it's was a mess... or I suppose not, since the shadow was sheer and disappeared! The powders themselves also smelled like chemicals... nothing I've ever noticed from the brand's products before.

My reasoning behind this post besides sharing my swatches, was to mostly share my experience during the return process at my local Sephora store—the cashier made the transaction uncomfortable and made it feel as though she was going to deny my right to return the product. She felt the need to interrogate every detail; how I applied and blended the shadows, my reasons for being unsatisfied, etc. The whole experience wasn't JUST a thorough return policy, it felt like a grudge for returning the palette, whether she be a fan of the palette herself or a supporter of the collaborator. I understand customer service having to make sure the product is still intact, but having to personally swatch each shade to try and justify the palette and "make sure I really want to return it" is unnecessary.

Do I regret returning this palette? Absolutely not, it was $50 that will be better spent elsewhere. So how about you folks, did you try this palette for yourself? What was your experience? Did you have any confrontations about returning it?

Monthly Favorites | March 2016

As I always seem to say, it's not often that I do a Monthly Favorites feature on my YouTube or here on my blog, because I find myself either using the same products repeatedly or I typically only switch up products depending on the look I'm aiming to achieve—either way, it's not new things that I am consistently using.

Over the past month, however, I noticed myself reaching for some great items and usually it results to me thinking, "I wish I could talk about this!" so ta-da, here we are with some of my favorite products from the month of March!

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Pearl

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed icon (0.25 oz.) individually retail for $38 USD ($46 CAD) and are available five permanent shades. It is said to be "a creamy powder highlighter that absorbs and reflects light for the ultimate natural glow."

Pearl is described as a soft luminescent white. [P]
"Find refined luminosity in any light. This bestselling formula is enriched with ultrafine luminescent pearls that absorb, reflect, and refract light so your natural radiance is never lost. Unlike the traditional pressed powder method which simply mixes and compresses dry ingredients, this unique process blends pigments with proprietary liquid binders, resulting in unparalleled, creamy application with balanced color dispersion. Like a compact full of crushed gemstones, the multi-toned, ultra-fine pigment pearls adjust to your skin’s natural undertones for a truly unique glow."
The packaging is a round compact with a silicone texture and features a mirror. The compact itself feels very slim and durable in the hand, but the product itself is quite delicate. Quick tip: if you're planning on traveling, stick a cotton round in the compact to fill the empty space and create a cushion to stop your powder from shattering.

These highlighters are best applied using a fluffier brush, like a fan brush, to ensure you don't over apply the color or get an intensely frosted finish that could end up emphasizing pores or imperfections on the skin.

Worth noting, the Shimmering Skin Perfectors typically contain 0.28 oz. of product, however the new shade, Pearl, contains 0.03 oz. less product.

Pearl is a pale white with neutral undertones and a frosty, luminous finish. The texture was ultra silky, soft, smooth and blended out incredibly easily on the skin. It had nice pigmentation that could be sheered or built for a more intense sheen. As expected, the consistency was very creamy/buttery to apply on the skin. Depending on how much product is applied, it can sometimes emphasized the look of pores or imperfections, but I never had this issue. Pearl lasted +8 hours before fading. (5/5)
* Anastasia Beverly Hills Starlight was darker, more beige.  BECCA Moonstone was darker, more pink.

Overall, the performance and quality of these highlights is consistent across the board, regardless of the shade. A little product goes a long way and application is fool-proof once you figure out what method of application works best for you. Whether you like a strong sheen highlight or a subtle natural finish, with the right brush, these highlighters can achieve anything your heart desires!

As most of you know, highlighters are one of my favorite products and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors are my go-to. So of course, I highly recommend checking out the new shade, along with the other permanent shades if you haven't already!

BECCA Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed | Comparison

Becca Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (0.28 oz.) retails for $38 USD ($46 CAD) and is said to be "a limited-edition [permanent as of 01/01/16], creamy, luminizing powder to illuminate the face with a soft, pearlized glow."

Champagne Pop is described as a soft white gold w/ pinky peach undertones. [P]
"BECCA collaborated with YouTube beauty celebrity and makeup artist Jaclyn Hill to create a new limited-edition shade of their number one bestselling luminizer powder. Featuring her dream shade, Champagne Pop—a soft white, gold shade with pinky peach undertones—this creamy luminizer leaves the skin with a soft pearlized glow. It’s infused with light-reflecting pearls that beautifully catch the light, allowing your favorite features to pop. Just apply to targeted areas, or simply sweep it up on the cheekbones and down the bridge of the nose for quick, radiant perfection."
The packaging is a round compact with a silicone texture and features a mirror. The compact itself feels very slim and durable in the hand, but the product itself is quite delicate. Whether you like a strong sheen highlight, a subtle natural finish or you're looking to achieve the newest "strobing" trend, this product is great at achieving either.

These highlighters are best applied using a fluffier brush, like a fan brush, to ensure you won't over apply the color or get an intensely frosted finish that could end up emphasizing pores or imperfections on the skin.

Champagne Pop is a light-medium peach gold with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. The texture was soft, silky, finely-milled and very smooth to apply. This shade had excellent pigmentation that blended out easily and evenly across skin. Champagne Pop wore well for +9 hours before lightly fading(5/5)

When comparedBecca Moonstone is lighter, brighter and more champagne toned on the skin. Becca Opal is darker and more gold toned on the skin. Moonstone and Opal mixed together create a perfect, spot on dupe for Champagne Pop.

Overall, the performance and quality of Champagne Pop is consistent with the other Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed shades—they are ultra soft, silky, nicely pigmented and leave an incredible luminous glow to the skin. Unfortunately, due to the limited quantity and high demand for this product it seems to have sold out everywhere, but if you happen to own both Moonstone and Opal you can easily achieve this color by mixing the two!

Available now from Sephora! July 2 online and July 16 in-stores.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (0.28 oz) retails for $38 USD ($46 CAD) and is available in 4 permanent shades, as well as various limited edition shades. It is said to be "a creamy powder luminizer that absorbs and reflects light for a superb natural glow."

Blushed Copper is described as a warm copper infused w/ rose gold tones. [LE]
Champagne Gold is described as a soft warm gold. [LE]
Moonstone is described as a pale gold. [P]
Opal is described as a golden opal pearl. [P]
Rose Gold is described as a soft gold infused w/ rose tones. [P]
"Find refined luminosity in any light—this formula features ultra-fine luminescent pearls that absorb, reflect, and refract light so your natural radiance is never lost. Unlike the traditional pressed powder method which simply mixes and compresses dry ingredients, this unique process blends pigments with proprietary liquid binders, resulting in unparalleled, creamy application with balanced color dispersion. Like a compact full of crushed gemstones, the multi-toned, ultra-fine pigment pearls adjust to skin’s natural undertones for a truly unique glow."
The packaging is a round compact with a silicone texture and features a mirror. The compact itself feels very slim and durable in the hand, but the product itself is quite delicate, so they're not the safest for travel—a great tip is to place a cotton round in the compact to prevent the product from shattering! With most of the limited edition shades, they occasionally have a raised design pressed into the product. (For example, Blushed Copper and Champagne Gold.)

These highlighters are best applied using a fluffier brush, like a fan brush, to ensure you won't over apply the color or get an intensely frosted finish that could emphasize pores or imperfections on the skin.

Blushed Copper is a medium-dark, golden copper with warm undertones, micro-shimmer and a pearl finish. The texture was soft, smooth and felt more dense in the pan, but this didn't effect how easily it blended out on the skin. This shade had incredible pigmentation that, depending on your skin tone, will either make an excellent blush for fair-medium or a highlighter for medium-darker complexions. Regardless, Blushed Copper left a fine-shimmer glow to the skin and wore well for +9 hours. (5/5) *According to Becca, this particular shade is said to have elements of a blush and a luminizer fused together, so the rich pigmentation isn't a surprise.
Champagne Gold is a light-medium, yellow gold with warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was soft, smooth, silky and blended out nicely. This shade had good pigmentation, but it did tend to lean more yellow than golden on the skin. Champagne Gold left a soft, luminous glow and wore well for +9 hours before lightly fading. (5/5)
Moonstone is a light-medium, golden champagne with hints of ivory, warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was soft, silky, finely-milled and applied very smooth on the skin. This shade had good pigmentation and left a nice, luminous glow to the skin. Moonstone wore well for +9 hours. (5/5)
Opal is a light-medium, golden champagne with hints of pink, warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was soft, silky, finely-milled and applied ultra smooth on the skin. This shade had good pigmentation and left a nice, luminous glow to the skin. Opal wore well for +9 hours. (5/5) *Moonstone and Opal have equal performance, the only real difference with these powders is the coloring.
Rose Gold is a medium-dark, peachy copper with warm undertones, micro-shimmer and a pearl finishThe texture was soft, smooth, finely-milled and blended out easily on the skin. This shade was highly pigmented and left a nice glow to the skin that wasn't overly frosted or metallic. Rose Gold wore well for +9 hours before fading. (5/5)

Overall, the performance and quality of these highlighters is consistent across the board—they are ultra soft, silky, nicely pigmented and leave an incredibly beautiful, luminous glow to the skin. A little product goes a long way and application is fool-proof once you figure out what beauty tools will work best for you. As most of you know, highlighters are my number one product and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed are my absolute favorite. So of course, I highly recommend checking them out!

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlights

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlights retails for $25 USD ($30 CAD) and contains 3 deluxe sized liquid highlighters (3 x 0.17 oz.) Two of the shades are permanent, while the other is limited edition and exclusive to this set. It is said to be "a portable liquid highlighter that spotlights your features for a natural-looking glow."

Champagne Gold is described as a champagne gold. [LE]
Opal is described as a opal. [P]
Pearl is described as a pearl. [P]

"Bring light and lift to the face when you define and highlight with this highlighter. It features ultrafine, light-reflecting pearls that melt into your skin for polished, natural-looking radiance. Light and sheer, these shimmering shades give you a range of tinted luminosity—and they adjust in any light to extend your glow."
The Shimmering Skin Perfectors retail for $41 USD ($50 CAD) and contain 1.7 oz. of product. Unfortunately, this set isn't actually a value. It contains $12 USD ($15 CAD) worth of product, but you are getting to try 3 shades for half the price of one regular highlighter  keep in mind, one shade can't be purchased as a full-sized.

These cream highlighters have a flexible doe-foot applicator and come housed in a lipgloss style tube. The regular highlighters come with a pump, making these much easier to apply and control how much product you're using.

Champagne Gold is a light-medium, golden yellow with warm undertones and a luminous finish. The formula was ultra creamy, smooth, light-weight and added a subtle hint of gold coloring. It blended out easily and left behind a very luminous sheen to the skin that doesn't emphasize the look of pores or imperfections. This shade wore well for +7.5 hours. (5/5)
Opal is a is a light-medium, golden pink with warm undertones and a luminous finish. The formula was ultra creamy, smooth, light-weight and added a subtle hint of pink pearl coloring. It leaves the skin with a luminous sheen that didn't emphasize the look of pores of imperfections. This shade wore well for +8 hours. (5/5)
Pearl is a bright, white pearl with cool undertones and a luminous finish. The formula was ultra creamy, smooth, light-weight and added a natural luminous sheen to the skin that didn't emphasize the look of pores or imperfections. This shade wore well for +8 hours. (5/5)

Overall, I really think all three shades will work with any skintone or undertone since they do sheer down and blend out very easily on the skin. They give a luminous sheen that leaves skin looking refreshed and not greasy or dewy.

I'm a huge fan of the Becca Pressed Highlighters and these are a great alternative if you enjoy using cream products more! So whether you're planning to gift this set, try the products out for the first time or you're a highlight junkie eager to get your hands on the limited edition shade, I highly recommend checking this set out  yup, even though it's not a major value!
