ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Glow Kit | Gleam

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit (4 x 0.26 oz.) retails for $40 USD ($52 CAD) and is said to be "a collection of glow kits with four metallic powder highlighters for intense luminosity."

* Hard Candy is described as a mood-changing golden peach w/ a pink pearl reflective finish.

* Starburst is described as a rush of cool pink w/ an iridescent finish.

* Crushed Pearl is described as a glimmering pink and silver w/ a crystalized chrome finish.

* Mimosa is described as a radiant golden peach w/ a metallic finish.

"Bring instant luminosity to the complexion with these four metallic powder highlighters. Just layer the highly blendable shades together or wear them separately on the eyes and body for a radiant look."

The packaging is sleek, cardboard palette with a magnetic closure that opens to reveal four rather large (0.26 oz. each, or 1.04 oz. in total) pans of product, which can be removed if desired—the back of the individual pans do list the product name and shade which is handy if you do happen to "depot" them. Also worth noting, the palette itself does not feature a mirror.

The formula is a very soft, finely-milled, silky texture that blends out easily on the skin and can be worn both on the face, as well as the eyes. They have a shimmery sheen that looks luminous on the skin without overly emphasizing the look of pores or imperfections easily.

Hard Candy is a medium peach with pink iridescent shift, warm undertones and a frosted finish. While this shade had a noticeable shift on the skin, I found the pigmentation to be more on the sheer side and it was the least metallic on the skin—I can see this working best as a blush topper, in most cases. It had a silky texture that blended easily and didn't accentuate pores. Hard Candy lasted +8.5 hours before fading. (5/5)

* Urban Decay OC (LE) was warmer, less frosted. Urban Decay Fireball was lighter, more shimmery.

ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Illuminators

[Purchased]

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminators (0.32 oz.) individually retail for $28 USD and are currently available in four permanent shades. They are said to be "brightening powders that impart a lit-from-within glow."

* Starlight is described as a white gold. [P]

* So Hollywood is described as a true gold. [P]

* Riviera is described as a rose gold. [P]

"Like a filter for your complexion, this brush-on highlighter contains a mosaic of brightening powders that impart a lit-from-within glow. The mirrored compact makes on-the-go touchups easy and fail-safe."

**Ingredients contain Carmine.

The packaging is a round, plastic compact that features the brand's logo on the front and a large color coded sticker on the back, which makes deciphering colors easy. The compact itself opens to reveal a mirror and a beautiful "3D art deco" type design in the product itself.

The texture of these feels quite dry, so I found it didn't adhere to skin as much as I'd like, but this helped the product sheer out and not look so frosted on the skin. With most intense highlighters, these are best applied with a fluffier brush (ie. fan brush) to ensure you won't over apply the product, color and/or emphasize any pores and imperfections on the skin.

Starlight is a light, white champagne gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was soft, smooth and finely-milled. It had great pigmentation that applied and blended out easily across the skin. Starlight lasted +8.5 hours and didn't emphasize pores. (5/5)

* Becca Moonstone was darker.

So Hollywood is a light-medium, yellow champagne gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was soft, smooth, finely-milled and blended out evenly across the skin. While it had great pigmentation, it was easy to sheer out by using a lighter hand and it never emphasized pores or imperfections. So Hollywood wore well for +8.5 hours before fading. (5/5)

* Becca Champagne Pop (LE) was warmer. Becca Opal was darker, warmer.

Riviera is a medium-dark, rose gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. Once again, the texture was soft, smooth and finely-milled. It had excellent color payoff and blended easily on the skin. Again, you could use a lighter hand to sheer out the color if desired. Riviera lasted +8.5 hours and didn't emphasize pores. (5/5)

Overall, these highlighters are nice and they come in a great selection of shades to suit any skintone. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't emphasize the look of pores on my cheeks or nose and the price, especially for the brand and design, is reasonable!

If you're like me and you're a fan of a strong, bold highlight than these illuminators will definitely be your cup of tea! However, if you typically prefer a barely-there highlight, you may want to try and test these out before buying—but with a lighter hand and the right brush, it can be achieved!

ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel

Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel (0.32 oz) retails for $22 USD ($29 CAD) and is available in 7 shades. It claims to be "a combination of cream and gel [that] effortlessly defines and fills in the look of brows while controlling and shaping without flaking or fading."

* Auburn is described as a reddish brown.

"For those with thin, sparse brows, this unique, botanical formula gives the appearance of fuller, thicker brows. The combination of cream and gel effortlessly defines and fills in the look of brows while controlling and shaping without flaking or fading. The non-greasy formula can easily be removed at night with a facial cleanser or makeup remover. Housed in a sleek, portable tube that allows for precise, no-mess application, Anastasia's Tinted Brow Gel is perfect for instant brow touch-ups anyplace, anytime. It's the must-have tool for any beauty-savvy woman."

The packaging is a standard tube with a spoolie-wand for applying. The brush is a standard mascara wand size which is okay as it covers the entire width of my eyebrow. However, I wish it followed the trend of some other brand's brow gels and had a smaller brush for more precise application.

The formula is pigment, applies evenly and is slightly thick. This gel takes a minute or two to fully set, but once dry it helps keep brows in place all day. On average, I wear makeup for up to +15 hours and this product kept my brows in place throughout that time. On the odd occasion, I may have a stray hair but it's more likely caused by touching my face, changing clothes, etc.

I use this product more for it's coloring benefits. As I've said in my past brow reviews, I'm a natural redhead and my brows have always been a dark brown -- they've never matched. This is the one and only product I have found that colors my eyebrows to perfectly match my hair. The Tinted Brow Gels offer more than just a tint, they are full of color payoff which can be both a good or bad thing depending on your needs.

The product glides-on, coats and glues down brows easily. Once the product is dry, it does leave the natural hairs feeling a little stuff, but that is what's keeping them in place! Application needs some concentration, as I said, the brush is on the larger side and the brow gel will color your skin or translucent baby hairs if it gets close enough.

Overall, I like the Tinted Brow Gel for everything it offers; color, hold and longevity. Although I do recommend this product it may not be everyone's cup of tea. If you're looking for a brow gel that will do no more than hold your natural hairs in place I'd try the regular, clear Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel.

ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo (0.03 oz) retails for $23 USD ($30 CAD) and is available in 10 shades. It is said to be "a two-shade compact that creates a natural brow."

* Auburn is described as a reddish brown.

"Create beautiful and natural brow effects with Anastasia's bestselling Brow Powder Duo. This lightweight, sheer to medium coverage formula was designed to be smudge-proof and comes with two shades per compact to ensure the perfect brow color."

The packaging is a small, round compact with a rose gold embellishment with the companies logo on the front. The compact opens to a mirror and the two-toned pan of powders. It is small, lightweight, travel-friendly and beautiful!

The product is pigmented, smooth, blends easily and is long-lasting, in both wear time and use range. Regular shadows tend to wear away and smudge over time, but these powders don't budge. They aren't powdery on the skin nor in the pan and because of the two different shades, it allows you to create depth and precision.

It is very easy to create a natural brow as well as a more defined, bold brow. These powders can be used wet to intensify the color, or used with a lighter, fluffier brush for just a hint. On days where I want a natural brow and I'll use this product alone, it usually lasts +8 hours before visibly fading or lightly smudging.

Overall, I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an alternative to using shadows to fill in their brows, or anyone who is having problems finding the perfect shade!

Before I ran across the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products I was using the Maybelline Define-A-Brow in medium brown along with MAC Eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown. Now, I'm a natural redhead and my eyebrows have never matched, they've always been a dark brown. I couldn't find a product that wasn't too red, and it wasn't until I spotted Anastasia products in Sephora that finally found my holy grail products! This brand truly offers the most natural, believable and large shade range. Unless you have jet black hair, I'd recommend viewing the shades in store before purchasing your perfect match.

Tutorial | Perfect Brows + Tips & Tricks!

Continuing on with Brow Week and as requested, here is a tutorial on how I create my perfect brows! The products I use are...

* Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Auburn.

* MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer in NC15.

* Sephora 21 Pro Brow Comb.

A really helpful tip/trick to achieving the look of perfect brows, even if you don't have them, is to apply concealer under your natural brow to create a crisp, sharp line. This allows you to shape your brows to get that brilliant arch!

ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade (0.14 oz) retails for $18 USD ($23 CAD) and is available in 8 shades. It is said to be "a smudge-free, waterproof pomade formula that performs as an all-in-one brow product. "

* Auburn is described as a reddish brown.

"This creamy, multitasking product glides on skin and hair smoothly to create clean, defined brows. The standout formula works as a brow primer and provides color, sculpture, and shading. It is ideal for oily skin and in humid climates."

The texture is creamy, pigmented and glides-on very easily. It is best applied with an angle brush, my personal favorite being the MAC 208 brush. The product coats the brush evenly and is easy to apply for precise, crisp lines. Whether you're filling brows in entirely, or drawing quick, short strokes for the look of natural hairs.

Dipbrow is a cream product, not a wax, so it doesn't keep stray hairs in place (nor is it advertised to.) A little product goes a long way, after all it is designed to fill in and color brows. When you first start using this product it's easy to use too much, which can cause the product not to set properly and end up smudging or bleeding throughout the day.

This product does set over time, but allows you some play time before which is great. You can shape, smudge, blend and correct until you're pleased with the look. For those reasons I've found using a cream product to fill in brows is a lot easier than a pencil.

This product is long-lasting, it wears the entire day (+14 hours) without showing any signs of fading, smudging or wear. On the bad occasion that I've slept while wearing this product, only the very end/tail of my brows had faint fading. I believe the cause has to do with the hair in that area being sparse and more vulnerable to being rubbed off against things. Besides being incredibly long-lasting, the Dipbrow Pomade is also waterproof. This product doesn't budge from sweating, high humidity, rain or heat.

Overall, the Dipbrow Pomade makes filling in brows flawless and fool-proof for an insanely phenomenal value! Although if you are a beginner this does take some practice. Once you get the hang of it I can guarantee you'll be impressed by the major difference and appearance. I highly recommend checking out the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow line!

I bought this product months ago and have used it every day since. Brows have always been the most important part of my makeup appearance and I have Anastasia products to thank for increasing my #browgame! Now my brows are a spot-on color match, a lot easier, precise and crisp since I introduced several of her products into my routine.

ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Contour Kit

Finally! After much anticipation the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit is available once again. The company released a limited restock to Sephora online and in-stores on June 12, 2014 which sold out fast; faster than the MAC Kelly Osbourne Lipsticks! The company also included a sneak peek on their social media platforms of the contour refill pans set to launch next month!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit is "a sleek, limited-edition palette with six shades: three for highlighting and three for contouring. " It retails for $40 USD ($52 CAD) and contains 6 powders (0.11 oz. each) This palette is limited-edition, refill pans will be available soon.

* Vanilla is a highlight.

* Banana is a highlight.

* Sand is a highlight.

* Java is a contour.

* Fawn is a contour.

* Havana is a contour.

"This contouring collectible contains six blendable formulas to sculpt and define features. Darker shades are ideal for shading and defining, while lighter shades sculpt and enhance features. Removable and refillable, the set contains all the color needed to start expertly emphasizing eyes, cheekbones, nose, and jawline."

Let's start off by saying Anastasia Beverly Hills does contouring right! Contouring is meant to enhance the natural shadows of the face; shadows are gray! Too often warmer toned products, like bronzers, are used and while they do the job by darkening the skin, it doesn't look as defined or natural as a cooler toned shade. None of the contour shades in this palette are overly warm and/or come off to orange or brown. Havana shows a bit of warmth depending on your skin tone, but compared to a bronzer this shade is still cool.

The finishes in the palette are matte/satin with a subtle sheen, with the exception of Sand, which has a beige frosted finish. The texture is incredibly soft, smooth and finely-milled. The shades had excellent, full color payoff which was buildable and blended into the skin easily.

On average, all six shades in the palette lasted +8 hours before showing minimal fading.

The packaging is thick, black cardboard with a flip-open cover and a magnetic closure. The palette doesn't feature a mirror. There are spots beside the pans designed to pop the pans out for replacement, which is super convenient. The pans are kept in place by a magnetic sheet in the bottom of the palette, which is quite strong. The bottom of the pans feature the names and details of the individual shades. I expected this palette to be larger in size, judging by the online photos the pans looked full, foundation sized pans when in reality, they are closer to being blush sized.

Overall, this palette gets two thumbs up. It's great for both beginners and for makeup artists to use in their kits. It's convenient, simple and caters to a wide variety of skin tones. The powders perform great and the texture is finer than any other I've worked with. I recommend checking out this product, or the refills if you have the chance!
