MAC Liptensity Lipsticks

MAC released the collection of new Liptensity Lipsticks ($21 USD, $25 CAD for 0.12 oz.) on September 20, 2016 online and September 21, 2016 in-stores. The collection featured 24 lipsticks, all of which came housed in sleek, color-coded packaging. The new formula is also permanent and features the brands signature vanilla scent.

"A brilliant new Lipstick formula that pushes the boundaries of colour. Each Lipstick holds intense amounts of pigment, resulting in extreme colour intensity, clarity and vibrancy. This luxurious gelled base melts on contact, providing fully saturated colour with a satin finish in one stroke."

Here's what I picked up from the collection...

* Liptensity Lipsticks $21 USD / $25 CAD (0.12 oz.)

• Burnt Violet is described as a dark plum. [P]
• Claretcast is described as a mid-tone magenta. [P]
• Driftwood is described as a soft lilac beige. [P]
• Galaxy Grey is described as a light bluish grey. [P]
• Marsala is described as a deep magenta pink. [P]
• Medium Rare is described as a creamy soft pink. [P]
• Smoked Almond is described as a bright rose brown. [P]

Burnt Violet (P) is a dark, blackened plum with cool undertones and a creamy, luminous finish. While this shade had a creamy texture, it applied pretty uneven on the lips and only had semi-opaque color payoff—as usual with darker shades, it will work best paired over a lip liner for a more even looking coverage. Burnt Violet wore well for +6.5 hours and left behind a stain. (4/5)

* MAC Ariana Grande (LE) was darker, cool, more burgundy. Urban Decay Mirana (LE) was darker, cooler, more maroon. Kat Von D Homegirl was darker, more berry. OFRA Mina was cooler, more matte.

Claretcast (P) is a medium, brightened berry fuchsia with cool undertones and a creamy, satin finish. It applied smoothly, evenly and had excellent pigmentation. The color did drag on lips, but once the product "warms up" it begins to glide-on much easier without creating jagged edges. Claretcast lasted +6.5 hours and left behind a stain. (5/5)

* Bite Beauty Juniper (LE) was slightly darker, cooler. ColourPop Cougar (LE) was brighter, cooler, more fuchsia. MAC Marsala (P) was warmer, more red. ColourPop Mars brighter, cooler, more matte. MAC All Fired Up was lighter, cooler, more red.

URBAN DECAY Naked Heat Palette

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette (0.60 oz.) retails for $54 USD ($66 CAD) and is permanent. It is said to be "an eye shadow palette featuring 12 amber-hued neutrals." The palette released online back in June and around July 13th in-stores.

The packaging is a plastic compact that features a magnetic closure and opens to reveal a mirror, a dual-ended brush and twelve pans of shadow, each containing 0.05 oz. of product. The formula is soft, smooth, blends easily and has, for the most part, great color payoff with the exception of two shades—Ashes and En Fuego. These two have a drier, chalky texture that does take a little more effort to apply. I found they layered easier over other shadows from the palette than if they were being applied alone, but as usual, any eye shadow base will improve their hold. Also worth noting, I didn't experience any fall out with any of the shades in the Naked Heat Palette!

Ounce is a light beige with warm undertones and a pearl sheen. This shade applied and blended nicely despite having a slightly dusty texture. I didn't find it had enough shimmer, although it is a buildable shade, to provide that nice inner corner highlight pop that I usually aim to achieve, but it did work great on the lid and brow bone to lighten any look. If you're very fair toned, like myself, this will be one of those "basically skin tone" shadows once on the skin. Ounce lasted +8 hours before fading. (4/5)

Chaser is a light, peachy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. This shadow had a smooth texture, nice pigmentation and blended out easily. Again, for fair skin tones, this is a great transition shade for any look you could possibly create with the palette. For medium skin tones, I can see it needing a bit of layering but it is a buildable shade. Chaser lasted +8 hours before fading. (5/5)

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Project Chimps (0.22 oz.) retails for $20 USD and is described as a "warm brick red." The shade has returned and is available for a limited time exclusively at Kat Von D Beauty!

The shade first released back in August of last year and was created as a charity shade to raise money for Project Chimps—an organization that helps retire biomedical research chimps to a life of freedom—20% of the retail price originally went towards benefiting the cause and has been stated on the official Kat Von D Beauty Instagram that they will continue to donate proceeds towards the non-profit.

Bite Beauty Nearly Neon Lipsticks (0.15 oz.) individually retail for $26 USD ($30 CAD) and are available in six, limited edition electric shades in the brand's signature Amuse Bouche Lipstick formula. 

I found the performance to be pretty darn consistent with the other Amuse Bouche lipsticks I've tried from the brand—it had buildable pigmentation, was creamy, comfortable and felt lightly hydrating.
