MAC Maleficent Collection

MAC released their newest collection Maleficent May 8, 2014 online and May 15, 2014 in-stores. The 11-piece collection included an eyeshadow quad, a pro-longwear lipglass, a lipstick, a pro-longwear lip pencil, a pen eyeliner, an eyebrow pencil, a liquid highlighter, a sculpting powder, a beauty powder, 3 nail lacquers and 2 pairs of lashes.

"Disney's most iconic villain, brought to life in this summer's epic new film, inspires a limited-edition colour collection in specially designed packaging to delight the most demanding of dark sorceresses."

Here's what I picked up from the collection...

* Sculpting Powder $23 USD / $27.50 CAD (0.21 oz.) [PRO]

Sculpt is described as a soft taupe matte.

* Lipstick $17.50 USD / $21 CAD (0.10 oz.) [LE]

True Love's Kiss is described as a clean bright red. [Amplified]

This collection was rather underwhelming considering the previously released Venomous Villains collection. The shades and products featured pinpoint her looks in the upcoming Disney's Maleficent film, but it's disappointing when we were all hoping from bold purples, greens and dark, evil colors. Although the collection has 11 items, most are easily duped or are permanent/pro.

Sculpting Powder in Sculpt is a cool-toned brown with a matte finish. The texture is finely-milled, velvety, smooth and can be blended easily. It is a pro product, meaning it's available from the pro section of the website or pro locations, but it also comes in four other shades! Sculpt is dark for my skin tone so I tend to use a lighter hand when applying. MAC Sculpting Powders are phenomenal and better than any other product I've tried for contouring. Sculpt lasted +8 hours before showing noticeable fading. (5/5)

Lipstick in True Love's Kiss is a bright, true red with neutral undertones and a very fine, slight shimmer. The lipstick is an amplified finish, so you know it's going to apply smoothly, easily and be comfortable on the lips. This shade lasted +5 hours and left behind a stain. I found True Love's Kiss didn't apply fully opaque at first, but it can be built. (5/5)
