Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipsticks (0.11 oz.) individually retail for $18 USD ($21 CAD) and is said to be "a line of five limited-edition shades of lipstick inspired by the characters from Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass film."
* Iracebeth is described as a bright red matte. [LE]
* Mirana is described as a matte berry w/ tonal shimmer. [LE]
"Inspired by the new fantasy-adventure film release of Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass, Urban Decay’s limited-edition shades of Lipstick pay tribute to some of the main characters from the film: Alice, Mad Hatter, Mirana (the White Queen), Iracebeth (the Red Queen) and Time, a peculiar creature who is part human, part clock.
Pair the Lipsticks with the Alice Through the Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette and you’ll have everything you need to recreate the looks from the film. From sheer nude with a pink shift and bright red matte to gunmetal-navy with silver shimmer, these shades range from classic to edgy. Regardless of the finish (sheer, shimmery or matte), each shade has a super-creamy feel and provides rich payout."
The packaging is a plastic tube with a very fun, kaleidoscope design print and the formula itself has no noticeable scent or taste. The packaging doesn't feel quite as luxurious as the new Vice Lipsticks; the Alice Lipsticks are noticeably lighter and feel thinner in the hand—however, the overall design does match the new Vice style!
Iracebeth is a medium, brightened red pink with cool undertones and a satin finish. This shade had excellent, opaque pigmentation that never feathered or bled despite being a bolder shade. The texture was creamy, which made it lightly hydrating and apply very evenly and smoothly without dragging or tugging at lips. Iracebeth wore well for +5.5 hours and left behind a stain. (5/5)
* ColourPop London Fog was similar, touch lighter and pink. Marc Jacobs Dashing was more orange toned. OFRA Atlantic City was more orange toned. Stila Fiery was less pink. Urban Decay Spiderweb was more orange toned, glossy.
Mirana is a medium-dark, burgundy with ruby micro-sparkle, cool undertones and a pearl finish. While this shade had a creamy texture that was easy to apply, the pigmentation was only semi-opaque and had more slip which made the color move around and gather into lip lines slightly during wear. On a closer inspection, it could look rather uneven, so it would definitely benefit being paired over a lip liner for a nicer coverage. Mirana lasted +5.5 and left behind a stain. (4/5)
* MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande (LE) was darker, performed poorly. Anastasia Sad Girl was cooler, more even, metallic. ColourPop Prim was more brown toned, less metallic. Kat Von Damned was darker, less berry, matte. Kat Von D Exorcism was warmer, muted, matte. Kat Von D Homegirl was warmer, less opaque, performed poorly.
Overall, these are nice lipsticks; the shade names and packaging fit the theme of the movie perfectly. The lipsticks themselves are pigmented, longer-lasting, hydrating and comfortable on the lips—but with all of that said, I also feel that the shades are very easily duped and the packaging does feel a little cheaper than expected. Regardless, they are still worth checking out if you're a fan or have nothing similar in your collection!
