MAC released their newest collection The Matte Lip on May 28, 2015 online and June 4, 2015 in-stores. The collection featured 22 lipsticks in matte and retro matte finishes that, according to MAC, are all being added into the permanent range.

"The Matte Lip is here to stay. Create a standout look with the fashion-forward new shades of our iconic matte lipstick. Vibrant hues like fuchsia Velvet Violet and La Vie En Rouge are a bold contrast to the rich burgundy of Fashion Revival and nude of Styled in Sepia. Go for the cool rouge of Trust in Red or boost it up with new Bespoken For, a dark, creamy plum. All Fired Up is described as a bright fuchsia matte. [Retro Matte]

Antique Velvet is described as a intense brown. [Matte]

D for Danger is described as a brick red. [Matte]

Flat Out Fabulous is described as a bright plum matte. [Retro Matte]

Heroine is described as a bright purple. [Matte]

Instigator is described as a deep blackened plum. [Matte]

Kinda Sexy is described as a neutral pinky rose. [Matte]

Matte Royal is described as a deep blue. [Matte]

Men Love Mystery is described as a lavender violet. [Matte]

Pink Pigeon is described as a bright cleanest pink. [Matte]

Please Me is described as a muted rose tinted pink. [Matte]

Steady Going is described as a light pink matte. [Retro Matte]

Stone is described as a muted grayish taupe brown. [Matte]

Studded Kiss is described as a dark oxblood red. [Matte]

Velvet Teddy is described as a deep-tone beige. [Matte]

Whirl is described as a dirty rose. [Matte]

- All Fired Up is a medium-dark, brightened red fuchsia with warm undertones and an ultra matte finish. This shade had rich, opaque pigmentation that applied evenly, but due to the drier matte finish, it did tug and drag across lips during application. All Fired Up wore well for +6.5 hours and left behind a stain. (4/5)

- Antique Velvet is a darkened chocolate brown with hints of red, warm undertones and a matte finish. This shade applied mostly even, but tended to skip in some areas. It had nice, opaque pigmentation and was comfortable on the lips. Antique Velvet wore well for +5 hours and left behind a stain. (5/5)

- D for Danger is a medium-dark, berry red with hints of pink, cool undertones and a matte finish. It applied smoothly, evenly and had a lightly creamy consistency that was comfortable to wear. This shade had good, opaque pigmentation and left behind a vivid stain on the lips. D for Danger wore well for +6.5 hours. (5/5)

- Flat Out Fabulous is a medium-dark, brightened pink magenta with cool undertones and an ultra matte finish. This shade was mostly opaque and had nice color payoff. Due to the drier matte finish, it did pull at lips during application and was lightly drying over time. Flat Out Fabulous lasted for +6.5 hours and left behind a stain. (4/5)

- Heroine is a medium-dark, purple magenta with warm undertones and a satin-matte finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and mostly opaque. It had good pigmentation and was comfortable to wear due to it's creamier consistency. Heroine wore well for +6 hours and left behind a vivid stain. (5/5)

- Instigator is a darkened purple burgundy with cool undertones and a satin-matte finish. It applied smoothly, mostly even and had rich, opaque pigmentation. A shade like this would definitely benefit best being paired over a lip pencil since it tends to appear patchy in some areas. Instigator lasted +6 hours and left behind a stain. (4/5)

- Kinda Sexy is a light-medium, muted dusty peach with warm undertones and a satin-matte finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and fully opaque. It had good pigmentation and was comfortable to wear due to it's creamier consistency. Kinda Sexy wore well for +5 hours. (4/5)

- Matte Royal is a darkened purple blue with cool undertones and a satin-matte finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that applied smoothly and somewhat uneven, almost patchy at times. The formula was rather creamy and felt thinner than the other shades in the collection. Matte Royal lasted +6 hours and left behind a faint stain. (4/5)

- Men Love Mystery is a medium-dark, muted lavender with warm undertones and a matte finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and mostly opaque. It had good pigmentation and was comfortable to wear on the lips. Men Love Mystery wore well for +5 hours. (5/5)

- Pink Pigeon is a medium-dark, brightened fuchsia with cool undertones and a satin-matte finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly, fully opaque and had excellent pigmentation. It had a creamier consistency than most mattes which made it extremely comfortable to wear. Pink Pigeon lasted +5.5 hours and left behind a stain. (5/5)

- Please Me is a light-medium pink with hints of yellow, warm undertones and a satin-matte finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and had fully opaque color payoff. Again, this was another shade that was more comfortable to wear on the lips. Please Me wore well for +4.5 hours. (5/5)

- Steady Going is a light-medium pink with cool undertones and an ultra matte finish. This shade had an extremely dry consistency which pulled and tugged at the lips during application. This also made it difficult to apply evenly, despite the formula seeming thicker. Regardless, Steady Going had had good pigmentation and wore well for +4 hours. (4/5)

- Stone is a medium-dark, brown taupe with warm undertones and a satin-matte finish. It applied smoothly, evenly, fully opaque and had nice pigmentation. This shade was lightly creamy and comfortable to wear. Stone lasted +5 hours and left behind a faint stain. (5/5)

- Studded Kiss is a medium-dark burgundy with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. This shade had a lightly creamy consistency that applied smoothly, mostly opaque and for the most part even—although a shade like this would benefit best being paired over a lip pencil. Studded Kiss lasted +5 hours, left behind a stain and lightly feathered over time. (4/5)

- Velvet Teddy is a light-medium, muted peach beige with hints of brown, cool undertones and a satin-matte finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and nicely opaque. It had good pigmentation and was comfortable to wear due to it's softer, satin finish. Velvet Teddy wore well for +4.5 hours. (5/5)

- Whirl is a medium-dark, muted brown with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and fully opaque. It had good pigmentation and was comfortable to wear due to it's creamier consistency. Whirl wore well for +5 hours. (5/5)

Overall, The Matte Lip Collections from MAC are gradually becoming my favorite, most look forward to collection every year. Although we do end up seeing a lot of previously seen shades, it's a breathe of fresh air and practically a dream-come-true to see the company adding these new and re-released shades into their permanent range of lipsticks!
