J.CAT BEAUTY Wonder Lip Paints | 18 Shades!

J.Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paints (0.33 oz.) retails for $4.99 USD and are available in 36 shades. They are said to have "invincible color and impeccable wear, with the twofold blend of endurance and delivery of intense pigmentation."

"For invincible color and impeccable wear, the Wonder Lip Paint serves justice! With the twofold blend of endurance and delivery of intense pigmentation, this will become your heroin of lip colors. Select from numerous colors to paint your lips for your day and nighttime adventures."
The packaging is a simple transparent tube that features a little nozzle that disperses the product—meaning you'll need a lip brush, especially for a more precise application. The names of the shades are printed on a sticker rather than the actual tube itself, which can be a tad frustrating if they peel off accidentally. They all have a mint scent, although I found some of the shades came off more "chemical" smelling than a refreshing mint.

The Wonder Lip Paints are extremely pigmented and apply incredibly smooth. Most have probably seen a similar concept before, especially with the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic Lip Tars, in the sense that only the smallest amount of product is needed and they are exceptionally great for mixing and matching colors to create any custom lip shade that your heart desires.

Before applying you'll want to make sure you knead the tube to mix the product up so it won't come out separated or runny. As I said, only a pea sized amount of product is needed to cover your entire mouth. It's very easy to go overboard and have the color feather or bleed—to prevent those things I would highly recommend pairing a transparent lip liner underneath. Also, a tip on getting the most out of the brighter, more vivid shades—blocking out your natural lip color (with concealer, foundation, etc.) will definitely help the colors stay true and bold.

The Dodo (WLP126) is a medium-dark, fuchsia pink with cool undertones and a glossy finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and mostly opaque. I found it had semi-sheer pigmentation which caused it to look slightly uneven at times, but only at close inspection. The Dodo wore well for +4 hours and lightly bled over time. (4/5) *in comparison to By-The-Bye, The Dodo is more sheer, a tad lighter and cooler toned.

Bye-The-By (WLP134) is a medium-dark, fuchsia pink with cool undertones and a luminous finish. It had good, mostly opaque pigmentation that applied smoothly and evenly across the lips. This shade had a thinner consistency that felt more like a gloss and lightly bled over time. Bye-The-By lasted +4 hours and left behind a faint stain. (4/5) *in comparison to The Dodo, By-The-Bye is more opaque, slightly darker and warmer toned.

Tinkling (WLP123) is a light-medium pink with hints of yellow, warm undertones and a luminous finish. This shade had rich, opaque pigmentation that applied smoothly and evenly. It had a thicker consistency that didn't feather or bleed over time. Tinkling wore well for +4 hours before fading. (5/5)

How Puzzling (WLP129) is a medium-dark, rose pink with warm undertones and a luminous finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly mostly opaque and had good pigmentation. Although it did have a thicker consistency, it did bleed ever-so-slightly over time. How Puzzling wore well for +4 hours. (4/5)

The March Here (WLP128) is a medium-dark, muted burnt orange with warm undertones and a luminous finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and had good pigmentation. While it was mostly opaque, I did find my natural lip coloring did show through in some areas. The March Here wore well for +4 hours. (5/5)

Amuse Us (WLP135) is a medium, brightened orange with warm undertones and a luminous finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that didn't feather or bleed during wear. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and left a nice glossy shine to the lips. Amuse Us wore well for +4.5 hours. (5/5)

Hello. Goodbye. (WLP133) is a medium, brightened yellow with cool undertones and a luminous finish. This shade applied smoothly, mostly even and semi-opaque. I found the color lightly separated in the fine lines of my lips some areas, but the vibrant nature made it less visible. Hello. Goodbye. wore well for +3 hours. (4/5)

Tea Time (WLP120) is a light-medium, muted chartreuse with cool undertones and a luminous finish. While this shade had rich pigmentation, I did find that the color settled into the fine lines of my lips over time and/or could look almost streaky at times. Otherwise, it applied smoothly and mostly even. Tea Time lasted +3 hours before fading. (4/5)

Dream Me Up (WLP119) is a blackened forest green with cool undertones, green micro-sparkle and a metallic finish. This shade applied sheer, uneven and only semi-opaque. Worn alone, I found the color settled into fine lines, but the metallic sparkle was still highly noticeable. This specific shade would work best being paired over a lipstick, like a black, for much better results. Dream Me Up wore well for +3.5 hours. (3/5)

Mary Unbirthday (WLP125) is a medium, brightened sky blue with cool undertones and a luminous finish. It applied smoothly, semi-even and mostly opaque. It had intense pigmentation, but I found my natural lip color did show through and altered the shade in some areas. Mary Unbirthday lasted +4 hours before fading. (4/5)

Splashed (WLP121) is a medium-dark, muted steel blue with hints of grey, cool undertones and a luminous finishThis shade applied smoothly, mostly even and semi-opaque. It had rich pigmentation that didn't bleed, but again, my natural lip color did show through at times. Splashed wore well for +3.5 hours.(4/5)

Spoke Fancy (WLP122) is a darkened purple berry with warm undertones, fuchsia violet micro-sparkle and a metallic finish. It applied smoothly, mostly even and quite sheer. The metallic finish was beautiful on the lips even though the color did tend to lightly settle in any fine lines. This was another shade to have a thinner consistency but didn't feather or bleed over time. Spoke Fancy lasted +3.5 hours. (4/5)

Talking Flowers (WLP132) is a medium, brightened purple magenta with cool undertones and a luminous finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and mostly opaque. It had intense pigmentation that didn't feather or bleed over time. This was one of the best performing shades from the bunch. Talking Flowers lasted +4 hours before fading.(5/5)

Unanimous (WLP127) is a medium-dark, chocolate brown with hints of red, warm undertones and a luminous finishThis shade had rich pigmentation, but I found the color applied unevenly and appeared almost patchy. It had a thinner consistency that bled easily over time and left behind a faint stain. Unanimous wore well for +3.5 hours. (4/5)

Red Queen (WLP131) is a medium, brightened cherry red with neutral undertones and a glossy finish. It had intense pigmentation that applied smoothly and evenly across lips. Although this was another shade to have a thinner consistency, it barely bled over time and didn't appear streaky. Red Queen lasted +4 hours and left behind a stain. (5/5)

Golden Afternoon (WLP136) is a medium-dark, berry red with warm undertones and a glossy finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly and mostly opaque. It had rich pigmentation, but I found my natural lip color did show through causing it to look lighter in some areas. Golden Afternoon lasted +4 hours and lightly bled over time. (5/5)

Little Bumblebee (WLP124) is a true black with neutral undertones and a glossy finish. This shade applied sheer, uneven and semi-opaque. It had a thinner consistency and the color easily settled into fine lines. By itself, this shade looks horribly patchy on the lips—but it would make an excellent shade to pair over dark lipsticks or to mix with other Lip Paints to create a custom shade. Little Bumblebee lasted +2 hours. (2/5)

Curious Oysters (WLP130) is a true white with neutral undertones and a glossy finish. Again, this shade was sheer, uneven, streaky and liked to settle into any fine lines on my lips. It had a thinner consistency and would work great to mix and match with other Lip Paints to create custom shades. Curious Oysters lasted +1.5 hours. (2/5)

Overall, these are a really great, affordable alternative to OCC Lip Tars ($18 USD for 0.33 oz.) While they typically only last +3-4 hours average on their own; they are a relatively cheap, fun way to experiment with lip colors, or to add an extra intensely pigmented pop with a subtle glossy shine over other products.

So whether you're already a fan of Lip Tars, of you've been wanting to give them a go, the J.Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paints are worth checking out!
