MAC x Bao Bao Wan Collection

MAC released their newest collection MAC x Bao Bao Wan on March 2, 2015 online and March 5, 2015 in very select stores. The collection featured limited edition lipsticks, a lipglass, a beauty powder, a shadow palette and nail lacquers. The products are housed in special edition packaging so there is a slight price increase for some products.

"High-society darling, artist, pop philosopher, muse and jewellery designer Bao Bao Wan is one of China’s most renowned style stars. Her debut collaboration with M•A•C is inspired by her womanly and brazen aesthetic, with metallic golds and rich jewel tones reflecting her trademark decorative designs. Eyes are gilded in bronze, skin twinkles like a diamond, lips flicker like rubies and nails outshine even the most precious gems. The collection is outfitted in velvety brown packaging featuring burnished metal, embellished with her signature. Nodding to tradition while trailblazing new trends, M∙A∙C and Bao Bao Wan invite every face to take centre stage."

Here's what I picked up from the collection...

* Lipstick $17.50 USD / $21 CAD (0.10 oz.) [LE]

Burmese Kiss is described as a bright coral pink. [Matte]

Lavender Jade is described as a dirty mauve w/ gold pearl. [Matte]

- Burmese Kiss is a medium, brightened pink coral with warm undertones and a satin finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly, fully opaque and had rich color payoff. It had a lightly creamy consistency that was drying over time. Burmese Kiss wore well for +5.5 hours and left behind a stain. (5/5)

- Lavender Jade is a light-medium lavender with cool undertones and a satin finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly, fully opaque and had rich pigmentation. The consistency was thicker than standard lipsticks and was lightly drying over time. Lavender Jade wore well for +5 hours. (5/5) *When compared, MAC Dodgy Girl is lighter and leans more pink. Kat Von D Coven is much lighter, cool toned and matte.

* Beauty Powder $28 USD / $33 CAD (0.39 oz.) [LE]

Summer Opal is described as a light bronze w/ golden shimmer.

- Summer Opal is a light, gold peach with warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was soft, smooth but had a thinner consistency that was stiffer in the pan. It applied easily and evenly to the skin and left a warm, luminous glow to the skin that ever-so-slightly emphasized the look of pores, imperfections or dry patches. Summer Opal wore well for +8 hours. (4/5)

Overall, while this collection was smaller it included eye catching, spring shades and the packaging was gorgeous with it's textured brown/green duo-chrome coloring and brown metallic accents. The collection sold out very quickly online (including other retailers, but some items are still available here and there so it's worth a browse) and is only released in select stores, so I would call ahead and check with your local location.
