MAC released their newest, big summer collection Alluring Aquatic May 15, 2014 online and May 22, 2014 in-stores. The biggest win with this massive 32-piece collection is the limited-edition unique packaging. Most of the shades featured are muted/neutral, so this collection may not be for everyone.
* Lipstick $17.50 USD / $21 CAD (0.10 oz.) [LE]
- Enchanted One is described as a mid-tone neutral pink. [Matte]
- Goddess of the Sea is described as a dark vibrant violet [Cremesheen]
- Mystical is described as a mid-tone creamy rose. [Cremesheen]
- Pet Me, Please is described as a light shimmering mauve. [Frost]
All of the lipsticks in the collection feature the signature MAC vanilla scent. They had a nice variety of finishes and fit the whole undersea, water theme. I found the two cremesheen finish lipsticks applied unevenly but the colors were nice and they wore well.
Enchanted One is a coral peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. (My boyfriend called this color "burnt pumpkin" on me.) The formula was smooth, creamy, opaque and applied evenly. However, due to the matte finish it did emphasize any dryness on my lips. The lipstick was neither drying or hydrating and lasted +5 hours. (4/5)
Goddess of the Sea is a medium berry purple with noticeable cool undertones and a soft, natural finish. This lipstick wore +5 hours and was neither drying or hydrating. The formula was very smooth, light and comfortable to wear, but it took some extra application to apply evenly. (4/5)
Mystical is a neutral rose pink with noticeable warm undertones and a soft, natural finish. This lipstick wore +5 hours and was neither drying or hydrating. Like the other cremesheen finish in the collection, the formula was very light, smooth and comfortable to wear, but it took some extra application to apply evenly. (4/5)
Pet Me, Please is a light pinky peach beige with a frost finish, but depending on your natural lip color this shade may vary. This lipstick had semi-opaque color payoff and lasted +3 hours at most before fading. It applied smooth but it did emphasize dry patches. Frost finishes are my least favorite, especially since my lips are in bad shape nearly all the time, this lipstick was somewhat drying. (3/5)
