MAC Hautecore Lipstick

MAC re-released the lipstick Hautecore on December 16, 2014 online exclusively. It was said to be available for one day only, however it's still available on the Canadian website and sold out but still listed on the American site.

"Hautecore is back, but not for long! Grab this cult-fave matte Lipstick in true black immediately before it's gone for good! Online Exclusive."
Lipstick $16 USD / $19 CAD (0.10 oz.) [LE]
  •  Hautecore is described as a true matte black. [Matte]
Hautecore is a dark black with neutral undertones and a mostly matte finish. The formula was lightly creamy but a tad drying when worn for an extended period of time. It applied smoothly and didn't tug or cling to lips — it was comfortable to wear. This shade is mostly opaque but the color doesn't cover lips evenly. It's a hard lipstick to build since it does tend to move around due to the creamier consistency. (3/5)
For a crisp, clean look I would recommend using a lip brush to apply this shade rather than straight out of the tube to prevent feathered edges. Also applying a base or lip pencil helps tremendously for an even, opaque finish. I paired Hautecore [pictured below] over the OCC Cosmetic Color Pencil in Tarred and it turned out a lot better over all.

In a whole, a great matte black, opaque, even lipstick is hard to come by. This is my third experience with black lipsticks and although Hautecore is my favorite, I'm still not overly impressed. For those searching for an intense, long-lasting matte black lip, you will still be better off using a pencil or cream product for a more flawless result.
