MAC x Chris Chang Collection

MAC released their newest collection MAC x Chris Chang on May 5, 2016 online and May 12, 2016 in-stores. The collection featured 13 products ranging from lipsticks, eye shadows, cream color bases and setting powder. All of the products are housed in special edition packaging, so there is a slight price increase.

"China’s most outlandish fashion designer puts an acid-soaked twist on her modern M·A·C collection, featuring a vivid kaleidoscope of cutting-edge colour, inspired by the ancient Chinese art form Kunqu. Surreal hues of Lipstick, Cream Colour Base and Eye Shadow, and uniquely designed packaging, are saturated with her signature dramatic flair."
Here's what I picked up from the collection...

Lipstick $20 USD / $25 CAD (0.10 oz.)
  •  DDDevilish is described as a pastel hot pink. (Matte) [LE]
  •  Plum Princess is described as a pastel plumy lavender. (Matte) [LE]

DDDevilish is a medium, brightened pink with warm undertones and a satin finish. This shade applied very smoothly, evenly and had nice, opaque pigmentation. It had a lightly creamy consistency that went on easily and never felt drying on the lips. DDDevilish wore well for +5 hours and left behind a faint satin. (5/5)
* MAC Silly (LE) was warmer. Clinique Wow Pop was brighter, more blue toned. MAC Candy Yum Yum was more blue toned. MAC Pink Pigeon was darker, warmer, more fuchsia.

Plum Princess is a light-medium, muted lavender with hints of grey, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. This shade had great color payoff and applied easily and smoothly on lips. Despite it having that creamier texture that the more recent matte finishes from the brand have, the color did like to fall into lip lines and accentuate the look of imperfections during wear. Plum Princess lasted +4.5 hours before fading. (5/5)
* ColourPop Marshmallow was lighter, cooler, much more grey. Kat Von D Requiem was lighter, more pink. Kat Von D Coven was lighter, cooler, much more lavender. NYX Playdate was warmer, more pink.

Overall, this was a great collection. While I did pass on some items due to them being more sheer, I really appreciate the more "out there" unique shades featured—it was awesome to see such a creative designer collaborate with the brand. The packaging is absolutely beautiful and there's no question it's the most appealing part of this collection, so of course, I recommend picking up at least one item for that sake if you can!
