MAC Lightness of Being Collection

MAC released their newest collection Lightness of Being on December 23, 2014 online and December 26, 2014 in-stores. The collection featured mineralize products, eye pencils and nail lacquers.

Here's what I picked up from the collection...

* Mineralize Skinfinish $32 USD / $37 CAD (0.35 oz.) [LE]

Lightscapade is described as a shimmery off-white w/ light pink, blue, yellow marble.

Perfect Topping is described as a shimmery pale peach w/ lavender marble.

- Lightscapade is a pale beige with warm-to-neutral undertones and a pearl shimmer. The texture was soft, smooth, finely-milled, buildable and blended onto the skin evenly and easily. The frosted, pearl finish gives a luminous look without emphasizing the look of pores or imperfections. This shade wore well for +7 hours. (4/5) *The permanent and/or old packaging version of Lightscapade is less frosted and leaves a more natural glow to the skin. See below for comparison images.

- Perfect Topping is a light, peach gold with warm undertones and a subtle sheen. The texture was finely-milled, smooth but felt dry straight from the pan. Regardless, the product applied beautifully to the skin, had good pigmentation and left a luminous sheen to the skin that didn't emphasize the look of pores. This shade wore well for +7 hours. (4/5) *This shade has been released three times (2009 Sugarsweet, 2014 A Fantasy of Flowers and now) and each pan is noticeably different in color, finish and texture. This specific release seemed more dry and leaned more gold. See below for comparison images.

Dreaminess is described as a soft cool pink cream.

- Dreaminess is a light-medium, pale pink with cool undertones and a luminous finish. The formula was creamy, smooth, lightweight and comfortable to wear. It had a mostly opaque coverage and the color would occasionally gravitate towards the fine lines of my lips. I found rubbing your lips together easily smooths the product back out. This shade was lightly hydrating when worn and lasted +3.5 hours before fading. (5/5)

* Eye Pencil $16 USD / $19 CAD (0.05 oz.) [LE]

Slate is described as a dark grey.

Taupe is described as a dark brown.

- Slate is a medium-dark grey with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. The formula was smooth and initially a tad stiff, but once you worked down the first layer of product it had a creamier consistency. This shade was mostly opaque, buildable and glided-on easily without dragging. Slate wore well for +7.5 hours before fading. (4/5)

- Taupe is a medium-dark brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The formula was smooth and once again, smooth once you worked through the first layer. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that was buildable and applied easily. Taupe wore well for +7.5 hours before fading. (4/5)
