Playland Lipstick
The collection featured six limited edition lipsticks, I picked up three! I passed on snagging Head in the Clouds because of the frost finish, Happy Go-Lucky because of how similar it is to MAC Candy Yum Yum (just a tad bit cooler, darker and a different finish!) and I actually meant to pick up Playland but the girl at the counter forgot to grab it! Which turned out to be a-ok, considering I talked myself into believing I'd never actually reach for it to layer over top of other lip products.
Review:
Red Balloon is bright, cool-toned pink. It applied creamy, smooth, evenly and had opaque color payoff! Because of the creaminess, this lipstick felt hydrating while on the lips. [5/5]
Sweet Experience is a light pink with yellow undertones. It applied creamy, smooth, applied evenly and had opaque color payoff. This lipstick was neither hydrating or drying on the lips while worn. [5/5]
Toying Around is a bright coral-to-orange. This lipstick applied smooth, evenly and had great, opaque color payoff. Again, neither hydrating or drying on the lips. [5/5]
On average, all three lipsticks wore +5 hours before showing noticeable wear.
Playland Lipglass
The collection featured five limited edition lipglasses, I picked up four! Going in the store to purchase these, I knew of the milky consistency and how badly the settle into fine lines. I passed on Bright Side for this reason! Even after a few minutes of the swatch being on the back of my hand, it settled into the fine lines of my hand. It was disappointing.
Review:
Carousel is a light, cool-toned pink with a milky, creamy finish. It applied thick, smooth, semi-sheer and somewhat evenly. Due to the creamy and milky texture, this lipglass did settle into the fine lines of my lips over time. [4/5]
Live It Up is a light orange with a milky, creamy finish. This lipglass applied thick, smooth, sheer and somewhat evenly. It also settled into the fine lines of my lips over time. [4/5]
Lots of Laughs is a light, cool-toned pink with a creamy, glossy finish. It applied thick, smooth, sheer and somewhat evenly. Again, it settled into the fine lines of my lips over time. [4/5]
Pure Silliness is a light, cool-toned pink-to-purple with a creamy, glossy finish. It applied thick, smooth semi-sheer and very uneven. Again, settling into the fine lines of my lips over time. [4/5]
On average, all four lipglasses wore +3.5 hours before showing noticeable wear. They are rather thick, sheer and settle into the fine line of your lips due to the milky/creamy formula.
Chromagraphic Pencil
The collection featured four chromagraphic pencils which are all part of the PRO range!
Review:
Black Black is an intense blackest, black with a satin finish. This pencil is very pigmented, very long-lasting, smooth and works wonders on the waterline. (This pencil cannot be used in the lip area!) [5/5]
Genuine Orange is a bright, matte, yellow-toned orange. This pencil has great color payoff, applied smoothly and easily. (This pencil cannot be used in the eye area and/or on the waterline!) [5/5]
Hi-Def Cyan is a bright, matte, sky blue. This pencil has great pigmentation, is creamy, smooth and applies easily. (This pencil cannot be used in the eye area and/or on the waterline!) [5/5]
Process Magenta is a bright, matte, cool-toned fuchsia. This pencil has great pigmentation, great color payoff and applies effortlessly. (This pencil cannot be used in the eye area and/or on the waterline!) [5/5]
On average, all four pencils wore +8 hours before showing noticeable wear. They are great pencils and I highly recommend Black Black. It's on my list of top 3 blackest, black liners!
Pigment
The collection featured four pigments in total; one in the permanent range, two in the pro range and one limited edition shade -- I only picked up one! I passed on Golden Olive because I can get it anytime, I already own Neo-Orange and by the sounds of reviews, including past experience with MAC matte pigments, Hi-Def Cyan sounded like too much of a pain (plus, it's a PRO products so it's technically always available!)
Review:
Ever So Yellow is a vibrant yellow with a frost finish. When applied dry, this pigment has more of a satin finish, can be rather loose/powdery and isn't as vibrant. When applied damp, this pigment becomes much more intense and has a pearly frost finish. This pigment works well both wet and dry! [5/5]
Neo-Orange is a bright coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. This pigment is difficult to work with because of it's incredibly chalky, dry consistency. Most of MAC's matte pigments (including this one, especially!) are some of the most frustrating mattes I have ever dealt with! They're difficult to apply, blend and sometimes even get opaque color from. Depending on your base, this pigment could last anywhere from 2-7 hours before fading. (This pigment cannot be used in the eye area!) [3/5]
