BITE Beauty Butter Cream Lipsticks

Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipsticks (0.15 oz.) individually retail for $28 USD ($32 CAD) and are available in eight shades. They are said to be "a creamy lipstick in universal nude and neutral shades."

"Enhance your natural lip color with BITE’s Butter Cream Lipstick. To achieve the creamiest lipstick, BITE developed a technique to hand cut each bullet, removing the outer waxy layer to expose each lipstick’s impossibly creamy core. Infused with five nourishing, aromatic butters, including lavender, shea, almond, pomegranate, and chamomile, this hand-cut and flat tipped bullet delivers portable, easy application in a range of universal, wearable nudes and neutrals that leave a silky finish."

If you're new to the brand here are some facts: Bite is exclusive to Sephora and their products are free of synthetics, polybutenes and petroleum byproducts. All lip products are made with nurturing food-grade ingredients that are healthy enough to eat! The founder believes, "You eat what you put on your lips, so your lipstick should be good for you."

The packaging is a matte black bullet with a silicone texture. They feature a magnetic closure and are heavier, more weighted than your standard lipstick tube. The lipsticks also have a subtle, natural fruit scent that comes more from the ingredients, instead of being an added fragrance, so the scent isn't overbearing or sickening in any way.

The main selling point of these Butter Cream Lipsticks is that they are hand cut which is said to "remove the outer waxy layer to expose the lipsticks impossibly creamy core." (I should mention the "hand cut" font shown on the lipstick is simply a clear paper tab that is placed over the top.) I can see the blunt, flat edge possibly being troublesome for those with smaller lips, but application was still easy—although I do prefer the traditional teardrop shape.

Pecan is a medium, brown with hints of peach, warm undertones and a creamy finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly, fully opaque and had great pigmentation. It had a slightly thicker, creamy consistency that was moisturizing when worn and didn't move around on the lips. Pecan wore well for +5.5 hours. (5/5)

Rosewood is a medium, dusty rose plum with warm undertones and a creamy finish. This shade applied smoothly, evenly, mostly opaque and had good pigmentation. Again, it had a slightly thicker, creamy consistency that was moisturizing and didn't slide around on the lips. Rosewood wore well for +5.5 hours. (5/5)

Overall, these lipsticks come in a great range of neutral to nude shades and the formula is hydrating, richly pigmented and very comfortable to wear. Whether the "hand cut" design actually improves the quality will be up to you, but I found the Butter Cream Lipsticks to be just as creamy as their Luminous Creme Lipsticks just with a slightly thicker consistency. As most of you know, Bite Beauty make some of my favorite lipsticks and these are a great addition to their already phenomenal line—of course, I highly recommend checking them out!
