MAC x The Simpsons Collection

MAC released their newest collection collection The Simpsons on August 28, 2014 online and September 4, 2014 in-stores. The collection featured lipglasses, blushes, eyeshadow quads and nail stickers. The collection was very small, especially for such an iconic collaboration. MAC x The Simpsons also includes an online exclusive blush in Sideshow You.

Here's what I picked up from the collection...

* Lipglass $16 USD / $20 CAD (0.17 oz.) [LE]

Itchy & Scratchy & Sexy is described as a electric blue violet.

Red Blazer is described as a bright fuchsia.

- Itchy & Scratchy & Sexy is a bright magenta with violet shimmer. The shimmer in the gloss was noticeable when applied to the lips. The formula was smooth, mostly opaque and applied evenly. It lasted +5 hours before fading. (5/5)

- Red Blazer is a bright, red fuchsia with an incredibly fine pink shimmer. The fine shimmer in the gloss wasn't noticeable on the lips but instead, left an opalescent shine. The formula was smooth, mostly opaque and applied evenly. It lasted +5 hours before fading. (5/5)

* Powder Blush $24 USD / $28.50 CAD (0.32 oz.) [LE] [Online]

Sideshow You is described as a light peach coral. [Satin]

- Sideshow You is a light-medium coral with a matte finish. In the pan this blush appears to contain a very slight shimmer, but once applied to the skin the shimmer isn't noticeable. The texture was soft, smooth but on the thinner, more powdery side. It had decent pigmentation that was buildable and blended easily on the skin. This shade lasted +7 hours before fading. (4/5)

(Note: Sideshow You is an over-sized blush, meaning it's bigger than a standard powder blush from MAC. It's more the size of Mineralize Skinfinishes, Bronzers and Beauty Powders. The compact features a mirror and feels cheaper, more delicate.)

Overall, The Simpsons was a tad underwhelming. The lack of lipsticks and merchandise in this collection was a surprise and while they did a good job visualizing that this collection was based strictly off Marge, when you think of The Simpsons you would instantly expect a lot more, at least from the packaging. But for what it's worth, I love the bright, bold colors - bring on the purple lipglass!
